8/7/2020 from Newport RI to Port Everglades Florida on a Swan 46

OPO e-mail # 20-47 We know private boat owners are not looking for crew but pro skippers are still busy moving boats. OPOOPO is looking for crew to sail the Swan 46 Aphrodite from Newport to Florida to be put on a ship to get to Europe. She finally sold! Short notice because things happen fast sometimes. Veteran OPO members know Murray is one of our more popular and busy skippers who moves a lot of Swans including in our OPOOPO This is a 7 to 10 day passage sailing the recently sold boat Swan 46 Aphrodite. (This is the same boat is sailed in the 2014 ARC from OPOOPO OPOOPO to St. Lucia.) She is an older boat but in good shape and fun to sail. The trip is free with all onboard food included, but you need to get to and from the boat. If interested please e-mail Murray at XXXXX@XXXX with a brief sailing resume.

6/22/2020 from Norfolk to New York City on a Sabre

OPO e-mail # 20-46 updated. Boat owner and very experienced sailor OPOOPO is looking for one more crew for this passage from Norfolk to OPOOPO He has a very nice 2016 OPOOPO 395 named “Mercury” which he has owned since new. He plans to depart June 23rd or this 250 miles passage to N OPOOPO for about 3 days in total. Since there will be just two crew you need to be able to stand a solo watch. OPOOPO is a very interesting boat (Aluminum) so it is a good chance to check one out and sail aboard. Some of Richards comments” “I have been sailing the boat around Europe and transatlantic this year. Fully equipped for ocean passages, crossed the Atlantic this year. Sailed around Europe for three years and crossed Atlantic in 2019 and up the U OPOOPO Coast in 2020. Before this boat I had a Sabre 34 for 17 years in OPOOPO Sound” The passage is free but you need to get to and from the boat and have your own money for any shore side meals and drinks. If interested please e-mail your sailing resume Richard at R XXXXX@XXXX He also has a blog https://www.UUUUU.com

6/18/2020 from Westerly RI to Annapolis MD on a Tartan 40

OPO e-mail # 20-45 Pro skipper OPOOPO just got this delivery yesterday and e-mailed me which I saw this morning. He is looking for one or two crew to help delivery a Tartan 40 from Westerly YC to Annapolis MD. Martin is in the Annapolis are now and plans to travel to the boat Wednesday to have her ready for departure Thursday. As usual the passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat. Martin is fine with less experienced crew since he just needs to get some sleep during easy parts of the passage so any OPO member should feel comfortable contacting Martin to ask about joining him. He is not sure of he will rent a car and drive up on Wednesday or take a quick cheap flight. Crew can meet Martin in Westerly or of course speak with him about the best way to get to the boat. If interested I am also including Martin’s phone number since it is short notice so you can call right away, but also his e-mail address so you can e-mail and send him your sailing resume. Phone number is XXX-XXX-XXXX and e-mail address is XXXXX@XXXX

6/17/2020 from SW Harbor Maine to Three Mile Harbor Long Island NY on a Boat

OPO e-mail # 20-44 Just got a call from one of my old sailing friends who is now one of the yard managers at Hinckley in OPOOPO Maine. They just sold a SW 42 to a client who needs the boat delivered by Friday because he wants his daughter to see it before she goes away for the summer. OPOOPO am looking for just two crew (Covid), who have been social distancing, to social distance with me from the world for a 2 day non-stop passage. I will rent a car Tuesday afternoon and we will drive up leaving at midnight to arrive in Maine to depart Wednesday am. My wife will pick us up in OPOOPO harbor on Friday afternoon or evening. If interested please e-mail me. I know I will have more responses and I would usually take one or two extra crew along on a trip like this, but not this year. . The ease of logistics and plan for covid save travel will help me decide what crew to take. We will bring our food with us and need sleeping gear as this is a newly purchased boat. Enjoy your weekend. Hank OPO

6/23/2020 from Marathon Florida to Puerto Rico on a Tayana 37

OPO e-mail # 20-43 Pro skipper OPOOPO is looking for crew for the following passage. I did almost this passage on my own Tayana 37 from George Town Great Exuma Island Bahamas to St. Maarten in 1993. It is an uphill passage but better done in June than January like I did. OPOOPO writes up his own “crew requests”. He e-mails: “I have a late (early) season delivery to Puerto Rico. I am planning to depart Marathon FL with a Tayana 37 on or about June 23. The trip will be a Thorny Path thrash, suitable for the tough and adventurist sort of crew. The route will likely be through the Bahamas to San Salvador, then East to PR, more or less. There will be much motoring and upwind work. The conditions will be rough, wet, challenging and dynamic, requiring personal toughness, situational awareness, stamina and sensibility. Because of possible weather related delays, the voyage should take from 8-16 days... or more. Hurricanes present a risk and uncertainty. And much hinges on openness of the islands at that time. Crew expenses on board are provided, but crew must provide their own transport to and from the boat. Probably we all drive down to Marathon from FLL and/or MIA; and Uber together from Puerto Del Rey PR (the east end destination) to SJU in San Juan. You gotta like rice and beans. Interested individuals should send me a brief sailing resume and convincing statement of suitability. Capt OPOOPO ” XXXXX@XXXX

6/9/2020 from Charleston SC to Rhode Island on a Bavaria 46'

OPO e-mail # 20-41Charleston SC to Rhode Island - This just in last night from OPOOPO who just arrived from the Bahamas. CAPTs are looking for 1 or two people to sail with them on their 2018 - 46’ Bavaria Nautitech from Charleston, South Carolina ( City Marina) to Rhode Island on Tuesday June 9th or Wednesday June 10th (weather permitting). They have gotten crew from us before and all past crew have spoken very highly of them. I just wished they gave us more notice as it would make it much easier for our OPO members to join them. They add: “The boat is in great shape purchased new and we are professional sailors who take safety into great consideration. If interested in gaining hours for Captains Licensure or just for experience please contact us via cell XXX-XXX-XXXX.” The passage is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat. We normally do not put phone numbers down, but this is short notice and they say texting works very well for them. If you are interested I would call them right away. This is a good opportunity for someone who is ready, eager and available on short notice. These are two pro sailors so experience is not as important as wanting to do a good job, follow instructions, and be a pleasant crew. Email to send resume: XXXXX@XXXX

6/8/2020 from Annapolis MD to NY City and ultimately to Detroit MI on a Seawind 1190 Catamaran

OPO e-mail # 20-37Annapolis MD to NY City and ultimately to Detroit MI - Boat owner OPOOPO has a Brand New 2019 39” Seawind 1190 Catamaran named “OPOOPO”. The boat was commissioned in January 2020. He is on his journey back home with the boat. He has a full crew of friends as far as Annapolis MD ending next month. He learned about OPO from an OPO member. Our fellow OPO member told me that he is a very nice guy and knows what he is doing. I spoke with him and I would agree. He has owned other boats over his lifetime of sailing. Many years on catamarans. He is looking for two or three crew who wish to join him for a total of no more than 4 crew for all or parts of his passage from Annapolis to NY City and then up the Hudson River and finally to Detroit via the canal system. Crew would meet him in Annapolis about June 8th and make way towards NY City. Some of the plans are contingent with canals openings later this season. The next logical leg would then be from Annapolis to NY City. He is on no set plan and is flexible so may not rush the trip north if crew are in no hurry as well. He adds: “New Seawind 1190 sport easy to see the @ www.UUUUU.com but Pepper was outfitted with a lot of carbon parts to lighten the displacement. The result is a catamaran that is fast, and wait until you see her under a blood red spinnaker!. To keep things light a Takacat tender is on the davits. Two baths and berths for 8 along with full galley adds to the comfort.” If interested please e-mail him at XXXXX@XXXX with your sailing resume. He may be underway and out of internet range for parts of the next few days so please be patient if he does not get back to you within 24 or 36 hours. You can ask him about plans for the entire passage to Detroit, but no one knows for sure when things will be clearer. We can send out an updated “crew request” for him later in the season as things work themselves out. Until then he plan to focus on one leg at a time and make firmer plans as time allows.

6/4/2020 from Eleuthera Bahamas to Charleston SC on a Catamaran

OPO e-mail # 20-31 Boat owner and licensed captain OPOOPO is looking to put a crew together to sail back from the Bahamas to Charleston SC. OPOOPO and other islands are starting to open up to allow crew to fly in and move boats north before the start of hurricane season. Peter is new to using our services, but he does a great job of describing his crew request and gives us a lot of information about himself, his boat and how to get to and from the boat. Just what OPO members need to know. Plus as usual, the passage is free with crew paying their own way to and from the boat. If interested please e-mail Peter with your sailing resume to XXXXX@XXXX . He also has a blog at www.UUUUU.com Here is the excellent information Peter included: “I see United has a flight on June 4 from OPOOPO FL to OPOOPO for $219. I’ll be arriving on June 1st and making sure the boat is ship shape. OPOOPO Edward is a 38’ Seawind 1160 lite. It’s a catamaran with a 21’ beam, 4’ draft, 3 cabins and 2 heads. The saloon table can be turned into a berth to create a 4th sleeping area. The boat has a main and jib and two 25 H OPOOPO high thrust engines. The boat was finished in late 2018 and is a 2019 model year. The engines are of the same year. I’m looking for two able bodied sailors at a minimum. Couples sharing cabins could bring the total to 5. The boat has AIS, satellite communication devices, a dingy with both oars and a 6 hp engine. I am well supplied with tools. I am both the captain and the owner with no other crew definite at this time. This will be my 4th crossing of the OPOOPO The first time I sailed to the Bahamas from OPOOPO The second time I sailed from the Bahamas to St. Augustine and then made my way north to OPOOPO The third crossing was part of the OPOOPO OPOOPO sailing from Hampton, VA to Eleuthera’s OPOOPO I’ve taken the US Sailing’s Safety at Sea course, OPOOPO and OPOOPO I’ve taken weather, seamanship, and navigation with the U OPOOPO Squadron. I’m a 6 pack Captain. The boat is both OPOOPO documented and has State registration. It was last safety inspected in 2019 by the U OPOOPO Squadron. The life raft was bought in December of 2018 and I have 2 PLBs. The crew should arrive on or a few days before the 4th of June to get underway on the 6th. The airport to fly into is OPOOPO and from there short land and water taxis will take you to the boat, currently in OPOOPO Eleuthera. The voyage I expect to take 6 days more or less. The crew can make return flights from Charleston at any time. Airlines with a liberal change policy are recommended.

He has gotten crew from us before so many times and can even right up his own “crew request”. “I have an OPOOPO 420 to deliver from Stuart FL to Stamford CT. This should be a 6 day trip into the OPOOPO and up the OPOOPO to OPOOPO Sound. The boat has had an extensive refit recently and should be in good shape. I am seeking one more crew for this trip. He has his wife and another experienced mate already aboard. I have known and sailed with Phil and he is a very nice skipper. He has a great boat, a Far designed 1990 OPOOPO 54. The boat is a very comfortable and solid 54' aluminum yacht built by Garcia. This is the builder of OPOOPO most recent boat, which he took through the N OPOOPO You may have been on the boat and met OPOOPO at the Annapolis boat show three or fours years ago. Phil has over 15,000 offshore miles and is well prepared and equipped for this passage north. Phil adds: “The boat has a Plotter, radar, AIS, depth, VHF, Sat phone, chart program on laptops, generator, watermaker, 250 gallons fuel, 370 gallons water, SOLAS 8-man liferaft, heater, enclosed dodger, bimini, RIB, harness/lifevests, jacklines, 120# Spade anchor, 330' of 1/2" chain, mainsl 3 reefs, roller genoa, staysl, storm jib. Captain has done numerous offshore passages including one transatlantic. RY OPOOPO Offshore certificate. Wife (first mate) has done a number of offshore passages including two transatlantic and has USCG 25 ton master inland, mate near coastal license. We have sailed the boat in Turkey, Greece, Spain, Portugal, France, UK, Madeira, Canaries, transat to Caribbean, Bermuda, NE USA, OPOOPO and Newfoundland. Our good friend crewing on this trip has sailed with us Greece to UK, France to Madeira, Maine to Newfoundland. We only drink in safe harbor situations. Crew should be reasonably healthy, fit, agile and not overweight. Sorry we cannot accommodate special diets. Crew should not be prone to seasickness. They should be prepared and practiced in seasickness management with meds as required”. He would like crew with some offshore experience and can stand a solo watch. I went as far as Newfoundland in 1997 and it is a very special place to visit. Phil would like crew to contribute about $15 a day towards provisioning for this 3 month trip. This is very reasonable as he is proving the boat. It is a long time to pay for food for 5 people and OPO policy allows a small contribution for passages that are not forced march deliveries, but rather cruising around the Caribbean, Europe or like this, a grand adventure north. If interested please email your sailing resume to him along with your contact information to XXXXX@XXXX

OPO e-mail # 20-23 Boat owner and skipper OPOOPO bought a very well equipped 2004 Nordship that has recently been refitted and made ready for this 900 mile passage to her new home in OPOOPO Carl has his father and one very experienced friend already aboard as crew and is looking for one more crew from OPO for a total of 4 crew. Carl has owned two previous boats, but this will be the maiden voyage for “Martina”. He would like crew to arrive two days before departure to get settled and oriented before departure about May 11th. Carl Adds: “This is a boat delivery with the new owner and 2 crew who have already signed up (my father and a sailing friend). The boat is in fantastic shape having been refit by the original boat builder (Nordship) in Denmark. I've visited her twice during the refit and she is going to be in great shape for the voyage. I'll happily share tons of pictures and the survey to an interested party.” The trip is free with all onboard expenses included, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for any shore side meals. If interested please send your sailing resume to Carl with your contact information to XXXXX@XXXX

7/1/2020 from Leg Nova Scotia to Iceland on a Lagoon 42 Catamaran

OPO e-mail # 20-22 1st Leg Nova Scotia to Iceland - OPO member and now boat owner OPOOPO is looking for one experienced crew who can satisfy insurance requirements for this passage. He has two other crew so there will be four in total. He and another crew have the necasary experience to pass muster with the insurance company. The boat is a 2017 Lagoon 42 Catamaran with all the bells and whistles as you will see in his description. Matt explains the passage opportunity so well I am simply going to cut and paste and include what he sent me. But to paraphrase he is willing to pay a $2000 stipend for the right crew. If things work out well and both he and the OPO crew get along you are most welcome to stay for an extended cruise all the way through November or can rejoin at your own expense. If interested and qualified please send your sailing resume and contact information to Matt at XXXXX@XXXX Matt emailed the following: Looking for able-bodied crew, single crew or a couple willing to share a berth for a sailing trip aboard a 2017 lagoon 42 catamaran. Catamaran is 3 berths three heads. The crew will have their own berth with bathroom and shower. AIS VHF, Radar, EPIRB x2. Self-inflating Spinlock vests with internal AIS and Weems and Plath MOB dongles. OPOOPO sat phone with Predict wind weather planning app. OPOOPO water maker, 740 amp-hour lithium battery bank with solar. AC heating and cooling. OPOOPO 2 freezers one refrigerator, 3 burner gas stove, and oven. Microwave and espresso machine. All sail adjustments at the enclosed helm on 2-speed power winches. Square top main and self-tacking jib make sailing this vessel very easy. Current crew, Owner/ OPOOPO have greater than 4000nm offshore sailing experience. Many offshore multi-overnight trips. Crossed gulf stream 4 times. OPOOPO Marteen to Chesapeake on this vessel. Crew #1. 50+ years sailing experience, 75,000 NM, Atlantic and Pacific crossings. The prior owner of this vessel. Currently living aboard. Crew #2 Novice sailor with costal and bay sailing experience. OPOOPO is as following July 1 leave from OPOOPO for Iceland, stay 2 weeks, and then on to the OPOOPO stay 1 week, OPOOPO Scotland, Ireland and England. Plan to dock in OPOOPO Marina in London by November 1. Boat will serve as a home base for European adventures until we sail back to the Caribbean. Looking for a nonsmoker, physically and mentally healthy for all or parts of this voyage. The priority being the OPOOPO to Iceland leg. As stated a couple willing to share the queen-sized berth is also acceptable. We do not discriminate based on gender, age, race, sexuality or any parameters other than health and experience. Candidates for the Iceland leg should have offshore experience with a priority for any crossing experience. I will provide a $2000 USD stipend for the OPOOPO to Iceland leg to cover any travel expenses. All onboard food covered. Offshore expenses to be covered by the individual. Additional e-mail further explaining the opportunity: I need the initial crew for a period of 14-16 days to complete the passage from OPOOPO to Iceland. If they want to stay on, and things go smoothly between us they may stay the duration of the trip July until November. I will offer a $2000 stipend for travel expenses and incidentals. This is for a single individual and would be split if a couple wanted to join. I would pay this out after we make landfall in Iceland. Crew experience is a big deal. The insurance company wants 3 experienced crew members for this trip. I and my mate John qualify. We need a third person to qualify per the insurance. Ideally, this person would have offshore experience, crossing an ocean, and experience on catamarans. That's asking a lot. The insurance company OPOOPO is really being sticklers this year. I have no idea why. I have never had a claim and the boat is in spectacular sailing shape. I would like to weed out folks who have no real experience, or coastal day sailing only experience, but I think I may get leniency from the insurance company if a person has a great sailing resume but not crossed an ocean yet. It's a bit ridiculous what they are asking honestly. John and I know the boat inside and out, but I am happy to have another interested person learn the systems. I did not advertise it but we also have scuba gear, a dive compressor and other 'goodies' on the boat for fun on the water. We have nice fishing gear as well. I do not know how important that is to note.

4/11/2020 from Fulton, TX to New Orleans, LA on a Tayana 37

OPO email # 20-21 Boat owner and skipper OPOOPO e-mailed us today looking for 2 or 3 crew for this 500 miles near coastal passage from near OPOOPO Texas to OPOOPO Paul has owned this 1976 Tayana 37 named “Profanity” for six years. I have a soft spot for the Tayana 37’s since I owned one for 20 years and lived aboard for 14th. They are very strong, full keel boats with a little character. This is an old boat and may not be in great shape, but Paul has installed a new engine. Paul is a new contact so he expects questions from OPO members who may wish to join him. Please make sure you are comfortable with Paul and the boat before you book travel. Paul mentioned the departure port might change to Galveston TX so things are fluid at this point. He would like crew with some offshore experience and be able to stand a solo watch. Paul emailed that he would like crew to arrive April 11th or soon after for a planned departure April 19th. This is a long time arrive before a trip so make sure you are not coming in early to work to get the boat ready. The passage he estimates will take 7 days to cover 500 miles so I think he plans to make a stop or two along the way. If you leave from Galveston, it will be less than 500 miles. The trip is free, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for shore side stops. Paul will cover boat expenses and onboard food. If interested please email Paul with your sailing resume and contact information at XXXXX@XXXX

OPO e-mail # 20-16 Boat owner and licensed skipper OPOOPO is looking for crew to help sail his Oyster 56 from St. Thomas to OPOOPO departing Wednesday 15 April 2020 with a stop in Bermuda. We have known him for many years and he has gotten crew from us in the past. He is a very good and safety conscious skipper. You should figure on two weeks given Bermuda and possible weather delays. 3/1/2020 from Martinique Caribbean to Athens Greece on a Lagoon 52 Cat

OPO e-mail # 20-15 Pro skipper OPOOPO is looking for one or two more crew for a total of 3 or 4 for this passage for OPOOPO Charters. The boat is a very nice Lagoon 52 foot Catamaran. He has been a delivery skipper for over 20 years and this is his 17th crossing. He was referred to us by other charter delivery skippers who have use our services in the past and have been very happy. He and I know this is a short notice passage opportunity, but it is the nature of the business that deliveries come up on short notice, so the late notice is not a reflection of his work ethic. He does have an experienced mate on board and is looking for one or two crew with watch capabilities and a good attitude. Remember this is a long passage. He plans stops after leaving from Martinique about March 1st to St. Maarten (to provision so you may see us since we are here until March 12. You may be able to join there and get a couple more days to get ready for this long passage and it might be a cheaper flight ), Azores, Gibraltar and then make way to Athens. So a good long passage on a comfortable boat and lots of documented sea miles if you are building miles towards a ticket. As usual the trip is free, but you need to get to and from the boat and have money for shore side stops. All onboard expenses are included. If interested please e-mail Yoel with your sailing resume to XXXXX@XXXX To see more on the boat visit XXXXX@XXXX

4/20/2020 from Tortola to Newport on a Swan 57

OPO e-mail # 20-13 Boat owner and skipper OPOOPO is looking for two crew who wish to join him on his passage north this spring. Henk owns a Swan 57 named Haerlem that he has owned for many years. He has competed in the Newport/Bermuda race with this boat. I know Henk through the OPOOPO Association and he has gotten crew from us before. He is a nice guy. He is a very knowledgeable skipper with lots of sea miles, but likes to have some younger crew aboard to help handle the boat. This is a nonstop passage of 1500 miles and will take 8 or 9 days so with a day or two on each end and a little weather delay built in, figure about a 11 day to at most two week time commitment. He has one or two regular crew lined up. Henk is looking for semi-experienced crew who will volunteer to sail for free and pay their own way to and from the boat. To insure good provisioning he also asks crew to pitch in for food expenses. Henk has always done this in the past and we are fine passing this along. It is always good to make sure financial arrangements are made and understood before joining the boat. If interested please e-mail your sailing resume to him at OPOOPO XXXXX@XXXX I told Henk to expect a lot of responses at this time of year since it is a slow time and he is giving a lot of notice. So please understand if you do not get aboard or if it takes Henk a few days to get back to you.
